Abstract |
This study examined whether the design methods of water supply pipes in the design guidelines of five Korean construction companies were appropriate. The existing design method investigation finds that there are problems with the use of the simultaneous use rate of 30% for calculating the peak flows at any instant of time, the constant pipe friction loss of 0.5 kPa/m, and the flow velocity limit of 1.5 m/s. And a new water supply pipe design method is presented and the diameter calculations are performed for 15-story apartment buildings. It is estimated that the adequacy of the new water pipe diameter design method should be evaluated by the actual measurement of the peak flow at any instant of time. |
