Abstract |
Air curtains are divided into horizontal and vertical blowing types. Each type is then subdivided according to the presence or absence of a suction port. Regardless of the blowing direction, in order to improve the sealing performance by reducing the amount of outside air intruding into the indoor, an air curtain can be provided with sufficient pressure to allow the blowing air jet to flow into the suction port on the opposite side. However, if the pressure of the air jet reaching the suction port is too high, the air jet reaching and colliding to the suction port is torn into indoors and outdoors, thus deteriorating the indoor air quality and causing energy loss. This study was carried out to evaluate the sealing performance of a horizontal blowing air curtain under various discharge pressures in an open entrance of small commercial space with heating condition. The optimum operating conditions of an air jet blown from the air curtain were also suggested. |
