Abstract A vapor compression cycle can be combined with an adsorption chiller in order to overcome the large volume which is a fundamental problem of adsorption chillers. In this study, the performance characteristics of the vapor compression cycle under multi condensing heat source conditions were experimentally investigated. Experiments were performed with a 70 kW vapor compression cycle using R-1234ze(E) refrigerant and the performance of the vapor compression cycle according to the change of chilled water conditions of the adsorption chiller was examined. When the temperature of the low temperature condensing source was low, the operating flow rate and size of the heat exchanger were large, the capacity of the low temperature condenser increased with the decrease of condensing pressure and high cooling capacity could be obtained. The coefficient of performance also increased under the same conditions.
