Abstract In this paper, the method based on the international standard ISO 24194 was applied as a demonstration analysis study to evaluate the thermal performance of a thermal collector in a solar collector field installed on site. ISO 24194 suggests a method to check the thermal performance of solar collector fields based on the thermal performance parameters of a single collector and compare it with the measured thermal performance to validate the performance. The testing facility for analysis was a solar heating system facility with a solar collector field area of 108 m2 installed for a horticulture house in Pohang. The test period for the analysis ranged from May to August, when the incident angle was less than 10 degrees and 12 days of clear weather were selected and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, compared to the estimated thermal output, the measured thermal output considering the two safety factor values regarding measurement system levels was 106.4% and 100.8%, respectively; thus, confirming the performance. Based on this analysis, further studies on selection of the appropriate safety factor values for field-installed heat collectors of various sizes are needed.
