Abstract |
This study was performed to measure the thermal performance and visualize the flow behavior of a falling film evaporator using R-1233zd(E) refrigerant. The effect of film Re on the thermal performance of the evaporator was experimentally identified using photography and thermometry. The heat transfer coefficient of falling evaporation using R-1233zd(E) refrigerant on each tested tube was evaluated and compared to the flow visualization results. As the film Re of each tube increased, the heat transfer coefficient of each tube increased until a certain film Re. The flow visualization results showed that the heat transfer coefficient of each tube increased as the wetted fraction of each tube increased. The experimental data showed that the wetted fraction of a tube was a major contributor to the heat transfer coefficient of the tube |
