Abstract In this paper, in order to estimate economic value when technology introducing HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) underground transmission line, CVM (Contingent Valuation Method) was used to estimate the WTP (Willingness to Pay) and analyze social benefits. As a result of the analysis, through the introduction of underground HVDC technology, it was estimated that the entire population would be willing to pay an average of 5307.646 won per month. In other words, it was analyzed that a total of KRW 1,516.8 billion of social benefits could be provided. Accordingly, the introduction technology of underground HVDC transmission line using transportation networks is expected to help in minimizing damage to the natural environment, minimizing site costs, shortening the construction period of transmission networks, improving the stability of transmission lines, and minimizing land disputes and forest fire disasters
