Abstract |
An analytical model is presented, for packed-bed thermal storage systems. The model is based on a mathematical solution for packed-bed storage systems, subject to arbitrary periodic inlet temperature conditions and heat loss to ambient. The model is validated via comparison with well-known theoretical and experimental data in the literature. It is also demonstrated that the model can be used to analyze the experimental results, and to predict the performance of packed beds in general. The model is simple and flexible, so that it can facilitate design and analysis of the packed-bed systems, subjected to various boundary conditions in the field. |
