Abstract |
The behavior of textile inside a rotating cylindrical drum was visually observed. A drum was made of a flat acrylic resin pipe to allow visual observation. The textile behavior was observed on changing the drum speed, moisture content of the textile, and filling degree of textile in the drum. The textile behavior in a cylindrical flat drum was classified into slip, rolling, falling, and centrifuging behavior. Slip behavior occurred when a small amount of textile was placed in a rotating drum with low rpm and friction between the drum and textile was less than the threshold. Rolling and falling behaviors of textiles occurred when the drum rotated at low rpm and friction between the drum and textile was larger than the threshold. The centrifuging behavior occurred when the drum rotated at high rotational speed regardless of friction between the drum and textile. |
