Abstract |
Various efforts are being made around the world to reduce greenhouse gases (GHG). A method to reduce the proportion of fossil fuels among energy sources for heating and cooling of buildings, which consumes a lot of energy, is expected to be an effective method for reducing GHG. In this study, reduction effects on operation costs and GHG emissions were analyzed when an absorption chiller-heaters system installed in a high school building was changed to a heat pump system using thermal energy storage (TES). The analysis period was from May 2021 to April 2022. Liquid propane gas was used to operate absorption chiller-heaters. The annual operation cost was 60.9 million won with 80.7 tCO2eq. of GHG emitted. Through this study, it was confirmed that when an absorption chiller-heaters system was replaced with a heat pump system using TES from existing method, the operation cost was reduced by up to 33.9 million won and the amount of GHG was reduced by up to 18.9 tons. |
