| Abstract |
This paper proposes a temperature control method based on programmable logic controllers. A plant is modeled using a thermal equivalent circuit, and the model parameters are identified from measured input?output data. With the use of the identified model, a two-degrees-of-freedom PI-P controller is designed and combined with a Smith predictor for time delay compensation. The proposed method is validated on three plants with distinct thermal capacitances. Across all three plants, the identified models fit the measured data well. Temperature control performance is evaluated by the overshoot of the temperature response relative to the target temperature. All three plants exhibit zero or negligible overshoot and converge stably to the target temperature. |
