| Abstract |
In this study, the acceleration characteristics of a vehicle tire rim were theoretically investigated, and the optimal energy harvesting device was selected from three candidates through a suitability analysis in an actual driving environment. Furthermore, the acceleration variations on the tire rim during actual driving and the power generation characteristics of the harvesting device under resonance conditions were experimentally analyzed. Through this approach, the feasibility of implementing a self-powered tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), capable of semipermanent operation by replacing the conventional battery power with harvested power, was demonstrated. A PPA-1011 piezoelectric cantilever beam device from MIDE was used for the experiment. Experimental results indicated that the piezoelectric cantilever beam device generated a maximum power of 2.2 mW under resonance conditions, verifying the feasibility of a semipermanently operable TPMS. |
