Abstract |
AbstractThe Meaning of color scheme of De Stijl architecture was defined as serial works of appling colors to architectural elements for the creation of special visual response. For the realization of color scheme, De Stijl artists gave emphasis to the collaboration between architects and painters as colorists. In the history of De Stijl, types of work for the color scheme are divided as two phases. In the early times of De Stijl(1917∼1923), the type of work for the color scheme was characterized as collaboration in which architect and painter played essentially different roles, but in the later phase(1924∼1931), began after many attempts at collaboration according to these premises had broken down, the collaborative works had been abandoned and the individual works were started. The purpose of this study is to evaluate efficiency and final results of color scheme depend on the types of work through the comparison about both types of work between architect and colorist appeared in the process for the execution of color scheme in De Stijl movement. |
