Abstract |
AbstractThis study aims at developing the space design method of Gaeja-Nangan into the Palaces in Chosun dynasty. This study choose the upper projecting handrails into remained palaces in Chosun dynasty as the objects of this study. Through the structure, because that the palace structure demanded the best in all ages and countries. The handrail was used in Imperial palace, the arbour, the look out tower, the king's throne, and the bridge etc. The wood handrail can be classified in two styles; letter "pyungnangan", and letter "gaejanangan". The former is composed of straight lines which looks simple. On the other hand, the latter contains the elborated decoration which gives solid beauty. Gejanangan play not only functional part but embellished part. In special use, the embellished part is oftenly emphasized more. In other words, the structures take visual effects more with handrails, so the structures look more beautiful. By these characteristics, the gaejanangan take a part of tradditioal architecture space design in intermediating space ; that are, latentness, courtesy and sincerity |
