Abstract |
Abstract City hotels, which are located in the central area of a city, serve the purpose of being a guest house, a symbol of the city and providing a sense of vicinity with the local social area. The hotel guests stay in the rooms mainly for city sight-seeing, business or daily usages and the common grounds are being made into an open area where both the travellers and the city dwellers can enjoy together. The results of this study:1. City hotel buildings are located on the mid-section of a mountain's contour line where the overall view and the sunlight is favorable in addition to the natural greenery2. The lobby and the lounge is also placed in an area where the view and the reception of sunlight is good and since the dimensions, location and main functions of the level are determined with consideration to the character of the hotel and the understanding of the users and the managers, the level is flexible in design allowing it to take a variety of forms.3. The space planning of the lobby and the lounge were found to be vitally important in the managerial and social aspect of the hotel. This area is transforming into a place that provides a "More Place" amidst pollution and congestion and where the characteristic local culture, fine artwork and the interior decorations harmonically combine with the natural light, providing the residents and the travellers with a sense of opulence and dignity.4. The motif of the design concept leans towards a nature-friendly environment. |
