Abstract |
Although, it has been over the ten years since multi-purpose spaces in the elementary schools were introduced, there have been only a few researches regarding the guidelines for the space criteria from which the estimation of a spatial requirement for the actual usages and conditions of the multi-purpose spaces for the teachers. The purpose of this study is to seek for the improved design guidelines to analyze the actual use of physical status of the multi-purpose spaces, and to understand the teachers` evaluations of the requirement for the spaces such as composition, location, size, and the placement of furniture, from four elementary schools in Seoul. The results from the study clearly show that the conditions of the spaces are seriously affected by the levels of the spatial usage. It also shows that the multi-purpose spaces that provide a feasible amount of teaching tools for the each grade unit are required. |
