The Study on the Spatial Openness of the Major Space in Museums |
Abstract |
This study tries to find out the characteristics of the Major Space in museums architecture. The study starts from a notion that the characteristics of the major space is one of the most significant factors to be a true public museum. In particular, the spatial openness of the major space plays an important role to give it some specific features being a public museum. In so doing, it suggests several tools in order to analyze the spatial openness of the major space. As a result, the major space has a significant position in the museum in terms of spatial configuration. That is, the major space has a close relationship with other spaces. As far as the spatial openness is concerned, the corridor-type major space is shown to have stronger degree of openness. |
