Abstract A study on the Colorergonomics Abstract Human engineering (Ergonomics) had been used only for the military usage until World War Ⅱ. However, it has gradually spread out to the consumer industry after World War Ⅱ. Recently human engineering is introduced to our environment so that it is practically used. The goal of human engineering is to make people comfortable and efficent in the human working environment. Color is a very important factor of human engineering. Selecting the right colors in human working environment could bring the positive effects like these: improvement of perception, improvement of work efficiency, rise of mood, increase of safty, maintenance of order, assistance of orientation and recovery of tiredness. The important matters that the colors of human engineering, especially for the office plan, should fulfill, could be classified by the functional and the emotional viewpoint.* The colors of human engineering in the functional viewpoint:(1) They should prevent dazzel by the reflection.(2) They should not gloss.(3) They should prevent the color afterimage.(4) They should be pastel.(5) They should have definite texture.* The colors of human engineering in the emotional viewpoint:(1) They should have the great receptivity for both individual and group.(2) They should correspond with the trend.(3) They should have long vitality.(4) They should harmonize with other main colors.(5) They should accord with the tactile sensation of materials.(6) They should have the potential of intimacy.(7) They should have a tone of high worth. Axel Venn from Germany, who is a color expert, and Weko company, which produces the office furniture, developed the Model of Colorergonomics and the Color Cycle of Human Engineering in 1995 by joint research. The Model of Colorergonomics consists of three factors: a technical-scientific factor (color material, color theory, color physics and color psychology), an individual-aesthetical factor (indivisual acceptance, group acceptance, color concept and color composition) and a time-space factor (color history, color trend, color geography and color ethnology). The Color Cycle of Human Engineering consists of three groups of colors. Each color group has 12 different colors. The most important group is the middle color cycle that shows the colors of human engineering. This color cycle is adequate for preventing tiredness and relaxing. It is often used as the surface color of a desk. The inside color cycle contains colors of accent that are distinguished visually from the colors of human engineering distinctly. The colors of accent are very strong colors for presenting some tension to the chosen color of human engineering. They habe a signal effeckt and are usually used for emphasizing space and for accessory in space. The colors of human engineering are desirable to use for the wide surface. On the other hand, it is desirable to use the colors of accent for the narrow surface. The outside color cycle is the companiontones that harmonize with the colors of human engineering and creat bright mood. It is usually used in the surface of walls and floors. You should avoid primary colors when you choose the colors of human engineering and companiontones because the primary colors bring the negative effects when they are used for the wide surface. They could make people excited and tired.
