| Abstract |
The objective of this study is to examine the intrinsic meanings of structure in architectural morphology with a premise that structure systems, as a tectonics concepts, exerts on essential possibilities for morphological changes. For this purpose, structural aspects of architectural form have been checked from the technological and stylistic point of view, and also structual cognitions of formal characteristics have been viewed in the light of sense, emotion and intellectual aspects. In addition to those, through analysed studies which is focused on architecture and structure, correlativities of architectural forms and structural systems haven been examined into compositional and expressional standpoint.
This study summarized as follows;
1) The intrinsic meanings of structure are stylistic aspects which is related with decisive and evolutionary factors, and technological aspects which is connected with synthetic factors.
2) The cognitions of architectural form in the light of structure are composed of intuitive perception, empathy and geometrical/theoretical relationships by hierarchy of sense, emotion and intellects.
3) The correlativities of architectural morphologies and structural systems are
① compositional characteristics ; material form stemmed from mass and envelopes of building, and technological form abstracted from building tasks.
② expressional characteristics ; structural expression of structure itself, and statical expression which is changed as structural behavior. |
