Abstract This paper describes an approach to developing automated interior design object modeling using a machine learning-based spatial information training model. In the conventional design process, designers have to interpret the information of a given space object to generate the appropriate design plan of interior design objects. Various algorithms with artificial intelligence techniques have been developed to automate the modeling process. However, they still need manual interpretation and input of information required to generate objects. The objective of this paper is to develop the automated modeling process of interior design objects using spatial information training model that supports to input the missing value. By utilizing a machine learning technique, the computer can inference the spatial information required to model the interior design objects. The spatial information training model also can help to fill out the missing information from the given building model, which contributes to alleviating problems of the manual input process. This paper present the automated interior design object modeling process by describing an implementation example of an automated layout system for ceiling light object. The automated layout system for ceiling light object is implemented as a plugin of BIM software and a case study is carried out to demonstrate the potential of the suggested process.
