Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to understand the housing identity expressed by single-person households in Korea who live in one-rooms and studios. Based on the interior platform application ‘Today’s House,’ 160 cases or the highest 30% of 533 cases filtered by categories in “Housewarming”, “one-room and studio”, and “single life” were selected as the subjects of this study. Subsequently, the frequencies from the selected subjects were analyzed using the program ‘Excel’. The expression elements of housing identity discovered in the study were classified into three elements: physical, activity, and psychological. These add psychological and activity elements to the physical elements addressed in the other previous studies. 1) Physical elements were subdivided into four parts: functional, decorative, structural, and environmental. 2) The factors of the behavioral elements were classified into hobbies, communities, work, study, pets, and engagement. 3) Moreover, psychological elements that residents feel through their homes have been added. Residents were actively expressing themselves through numerous physical factors and activities and were feeling positive about the house where they were doing so. In determining self-identity through housing in the further study, it is essential to address the concept of residential identity, including not only physical factors but also activity and psychological factors. |
