Abstract As the meaning of public use and access is becoming more important rather than ownership, the co-working office is expanding gradually and globally as one of the representative commerces of the sharing economy. The co working office allows individual entrepreneurs, SMEs, and TF teams to enter the market without large capital, and to build networking and collaboration. The purpose of this study is to investigate spatial characteristics of co working offices and analyse communicative design features. For this study, case studies including four domestic co-working offices was conducted based on site visits. Communicative design characteristics are openness, contingency, playfulness, mobility, and flexibility based on the previous research. As a result, for concentrated and individual works, co working offices provided more open work stations or visually connected workspaces using transparent glass wall systems. Modern offices are changing into a flexible work structure that accompanies each member's potential and creativity, centering on mutual exchange and autonomy. Near the main circulation area or main entrance, community spaces such as cafe, lounge and reception areas were provided for informal and instant communication and interaction. Most work areas in the case of co-work offices, mobility aspects were fully available for users to work in any spots.
