Abstract |
Along with the increase in single-person households, the demand for pet playgrounds is gradually increasing due to changes in perception of pets. However, although dog playgrounds should be a space for both dogs and owners to satisfy both users, most of the dog playgrounds currently being created lack not only play facilities for dogs but also rest areas for dogs. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to find out whether public space design components were well applied to pet playgrounds in Seoul and to suggest their characteristics. Based on the completed checklist, a survey was conducted to see if public space design components were well applied to the currently created pet playground in Seoul. As a result, five of the six components scored more than 20 out of 30 points, which was generally well applied to dog playgrounds, especially location and accessibility. However, the results of comfort and convenience are insufficient, and we would like to suggest the following as a way to form a desirable dog playground with public space design elements. First of all, it should be located within 10 minutes' walk from the station in terms of accessibility, and in terms of comfort, floor finishing materials and facilities that occupy most of the dog playground space should be more comfortable. Next, in terms of convenience, benches and blinds for pets should be installed in the dog playground as the most improvement among existing factors, and drinking water tables that can be used by both dogs and pets are also required. In terms of connection, it should be harmonized with the surrounding landscape, and in terms of openness, it should be at least 1,000m2 or more. Finally, in terms of location, there is nothing to add as a well-applied element even now, and I think it will be possible to form a desirable dog playground by combining the above information. |
