Abstract Recently, attempts have been made to solve various modern social problems through communities, such as community housing. In this situation, considering that our society has not sufficiently considered housing from a cultural perspective due to its supply-oriented quantitative approach, discussions on the sustainability of housing culture rather than supply are more important in the future diverse housing market. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the sustainability of community housing by applying an evaluation tool that comprehensively evaluates the sustainability of community housing from social, economic, and physical & environmental perspectives and to evaluate the sustainability of community housing by targeting residents who are actually living in community housing. The research method involved conducting a survey targeting 100 residents of communal housing in the metropolitan area. As a research conclusion, first, the overall sustainability evaluation score was relatively high at 3.65 points (out of 5). By sector, economic sustainability was rated the highest, followed by social sustainability and physical & environmental sustainability. In terms of sub-items, in the social sustainability field, ‘accessibility of community space’ and ‘internal regulations agreed upon by residents’ received high scores, while in the economic sustainability field, ‘transparency in management fee management’ received the highest score. In terms of physical & environmental sustainability, ‘comfort of indoor space environment’ received the highest score, followed by ‘resident participation design’. This study is expected to be helpful in setting the overall direction for planning which areas should be focused on to ensure the sustainability of community housing.
