Abstract The purpose of this study is to identify interior design elements and characteristics of WELL certified commercial showrooms in the United States and provide recommendations for enhancing the health and well-being of occupants. The research methodology involved case studies of three WELL certified showrooms displaying office furniture and office spaces, conducted through on-site visits. The major findings of this study are as follows: First, an open-plan layout that enhances natural daylight contributes to maintaining occupants’ circadian rhythms while promoting physical activity and social interaction. Second, enclosed spaces requiring privacy should integrate design elements such as daylight access, sound absorption, and air purification to enhance occupant comfort. Third, incorporating designated dining and social spaces supports healthier eating habits and facilitates social engagement. Fourth, spatial programming and design strategies should prioritize mental well-being by incorporating dedicated rest areas and nature elements. Lastly, Lastly, both sustainability-focused building certification programs and those emphasizing health and well-being should be implemented together to maximize their synergistic effects.
