Abstract |
A 39.8% locking range injection-locked quadrature voltage-controlled oscillator (IL-QVCO) using fourth-order resonator is proposed. The fourth-order resonator is applied to widen the locking range compared with the conventional IL-QVCO using a second-order resonator. The self-oscillation frequency of the proposed IL-QVCO is 7.89 GHz, and the input frequency locking range is 7.08?10.56 GHz (39.8%) at an input power of 0 dBm. The in-phase and quadrature (I/Q) phase difference is 0.6° in their mean value while the standard deviation reaches 4.87°. The power consumption of the core is 42 mW from a 1-V supply voltage. The size of the IL-QVCO chip fabricated in a 65-nm complementary metal?oxide?semiconductor (CMOS) technology is 0.86 mm × 0.77 mm. |
