Abstract To go full circle in the methodology debate during the 60's and 70's, architecture as one of design areas turns out to be a classic example of an 'ill-structured' or `wicked' problem. Design paradigms of many scientific academics in Kuhn's term might not be paradims in truth because design was then and is still a pre-paradigmatc stage, no one of the many diverse theoreticl viewpoints being common to all scientists design. Tthe results of seemingly scientific and nstitutional in filtration into design are not often conductive to `good' or `fit' design end products. In this context, the author makes a critical description on the design methodology based on the scienticism through the `designerly' design method for one thing and the D.A. Sch n's epistemology of practice for another.
