A knowledge-based approach to architectural design |
| Abstract |
Desingn can understood as a process of state-space search, and the possession of effective heuristics for searching is an important aspect of design competence. There are three typesof design including routine design, innovative design and creative design. Three knowledge-based approaches to routine design(prototype-based design, issue-based deign, constraint-based design) are studied in various design areas, and a lot of knowledge-based design systems using these approaches have been developed. The purpose of this research is to explore the essence of design and the generation of alternatives in architectural design problem solving on the basis of I. P. T. The conceptual structure of alternative generation process. which could provide a framework for developing the knowledge-based design system for it has been suggested. Special attention has been paid on the nature of design knowledge and the processes which operate on them. |
