Abstract The pupose of this study is to find optimum unit plan depth in rent-apartment unit design.First, we formulate the mathematical model of benefit function during the life term which is applicable to the optimum design system on the rent-apartment. We define that the cost benefit function is ((life term income per unit-life term cost per unit)X unit area per household X total unit number).Above life term cost is classified by initial cost and repair /replacement cost which are functions of unit plan depth Y, and (unit area X total unit number) is transfered to the floor area ratio which can be represented by Y.Second, we calculate the optimum unit plan depth Y by Newton-Raphson method after setting the differential function of cost benefit function to zero.Third, sensitivity analysis has been done by increasing rent and the inflation rate of market value for construction material.Fourth, we select the optmum unit plan depth according to rent in the case study.
