Abstract Being the nearest, while physical abundance has been emphasized in our present society, relatively, our spiritual side is gradually going off. Under this viewpoint, this study is concerned with the characteristics and changing process of the cultural architecture constructed in Korea from 1908 to 1992. The main purpose of this study is to find out the essential function and range of cultural architecture, the social factor and background of cultural architecture constructed in Korea through the analysis of the social factor and background of the formation of cultural architecture in a foreign countries, the changing process and characteristics of cultural architecture by the proper time division of cultural policy. In consequence, the formation and changes of the cultural architecture was appeared later than the foreign countries(Japan and France), and chiefly formed in the early 1980. The formation and changes, in the beginning, were rised in the increase of Museum(or, Monumental Hall) of the purpose of preserving memorial natures, but in the later, were rised from direction of improving the quality of the cultural architecture, and the type of Mulit-Purpose Hall
