Abstract Five Prestressed Reinforced Concrete beam-column joint assemblages were constructed and tested. The Ultimate Prestress ratio( ) in the beams were 0.5, 0.65, 0.8 respectively. In the low, the subsequent degradation in stiffness and strength was observed due to damage concentration in the joint core and bond deterioration, while the assemblage with =0.8 was able to be loaded upto beyond a rotation angle of 1/20 without significant reduction in stiffness and strength. The cover concrete of the beams in the test units with lager prestress spalled in the early stage of loading and the bucking of the beam longitudinal reinforcement resulted in reduction of strength and failure.
