Low-Income Shelter and Squatter Settlement Problem in the Ulsan City |
Abstract |
This study aimed at providing reasonable information that can help the Government and the Housing Development Staff to deal with the problems with Redevelopment and Housing Rehabilitation.For the purpose of this study, questionnaire consists of the contents for housing satisfaction and demands, settlement satisfaction and wants. Questionnaires were administered to 170 people living at San-Rock in Ulsan. 170 data was analized by descriptive statistics.The major findings are as following:First, the size and shape of settlements(housing block) has to small for them. They want about 100 households as the size of a settlement.Second, they preferred to detached house or apartment unit in a private house than apartment house style.Conclusively, Redevlopment policies must not be profit-oriented, but rather humanistic in outlook, if they are to presserve a community as a functioning entity. |
