Title |
A Study on the Residential Site Design Criteria for the Prevention of Crime |
Abstract |
This study is to propose the design guidelines for the crime prevention in housing complexes. The type, place, and time of the crime as well as resident's fear were surveyed in the 'K'city located in the metropolitan area of seoul. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows:1)There is not significant relationship between the numbers of crime occurrence and the degrees of fear on crime.2)The high-rise apartments represent low rates of crime occurrences and low degrees of fear. The reason seems to be due to the fact that the guide posts are located at each entrance of stair case.3)The crime occurrences are relatively higher at night and during the weekends, therefore further enforcement of police patrol, incresement of street lights, etc are suggested.4)Higher the building coverage ratios are, higher the rate of crime occurrences. Therefore, special attention need to be pain in site design for the housing complexes with high building coverage ratios. |
