New Method of Dynamic Analysis of Primary-Secondary Structures |
Abstract |
A new method is presented to analyze the harmonic forced vibration of several primary structures connected by secondary structures. Lagrange's equations are used to develop equations of motion in terms of impedances, mobilities, and modal forces. Then frequency bands and central frequencies are used to reduce the complexity of the problem. The band contains resonance terms which are analyzed in detail. The remaining terms outside the band are slowly varying with respect to the forcing frequency and are analyzed with less detail. This approach is efficient because computational effort is concentrated on the most important terms in the response. With the same computational effort, it is possible to include more total modes in the frequency band approach than in the standard mode truncation approach. |
