Space Usage Patterns of Middle-Sized Apartment Dwellers in the City of Seoul |
Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between space usage patterns and the resident's characteristics. Variables selected for analysis are residential area, the size of floor space, occupation of the head of household, family income, family life cycle, and the age of homemaker. Documentary research and questionnaire survey methods are used in this study. Questionnaires are administered by interviewing 304 housebolds from three residential area in Seoul by the size of floor space, 31-35 and 44-48 pyong. Such techniques are used as cross-classified analysis and simple tabulation.This study potrays that the size of floor space, occupation of the head of household, family life cycle and the age of homemaker affect activities in anbang, living room, and dining-kitchen; and that the size of floor space, family life cycle and the age of homemaker are strongly associated with the use of furniture in sleeping. |
