Abstract Rationalty is historical and there's no universal and timeless form of rationality. In western architecture, Modern rationality, which Modern Architecture and architectural design knowledges based upon, had been formed since the period of the Enlightenment and developed from Cartesian thought. There are 4 tendencies of the changes of modern rationality in western architecture after Modernism, which are modern rationality's being 1)adjusted and developed in design methodology, 2)manneristically reinterpretated in Late-Modernism, 3)seceded from it, in Post-Modernism and 4)deconstructed in Deconstructionist Architecture. The objective of this study is to describe the way how these changes of rationality were developed, and made the knowledges in architectural design after Modernism.
