A Study on the Children`s Space Usage and Behavior with Different Housing Types |
Abstract |
The purpose of this research is to obtain an empirically-based understanding of the attitudes of those children and mothers living in three different housing types : detached houses, row houses/villa and apartments.The subjects are 547 elementary school children in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades and their mothers in four different residential areas in Seoul.The major findings of the study are as follows : The behavioral patterns of children in the dwelling space show a significant difference according to the housing types. The home activities of children are classified as follows : eating, family interaction, study/sleeping, resting, play activities, and the corresponding spaces depend on the housing types. |
