Title |
A Study on the Children`s Attitudes toward their Dwelling Space |
Abstract |
An architectural space may be evaluated according to its ability to accommodate human behavior. In this regard, studies on human behavior in given architectural spaces, on people's attitudes and needs for appropriate spaces have been actively carried out, but there has been inadequate study of children as occupants of architectural space while exclusively focusing on the behavioral patterns of adults. The major findings of the study are as follows: Children favor detached houses for having pest and aparetments for convenience'sake. Children who live in detached houses understand that the center of living is the master bedroom and that the living room is simultaneously the family space and the guest space. On the other hand, children who live in apartments recognize the living room as the center of living and the master bedroom as reserved for their parents. The kitchens/dining room is considered as another family interaction space in all types of housing:this view is expected to apply to houses in the future. |
