A Study on the Architectural Planning of Elementary School for Open Education |
Abstract |
This study aims to apprehend present phase of open educational system in Korea. For this purpose, observations, interviews and questions are carried out in the seven elementary schools performing open education. Examined results are as follows: First, about 30%-50% of the time fixed by law are operated as open curriculum. Second, the use of variouslearning spaces such as multi-purpose room or reformed classroom is noticed in these schools. Third, unit of learning space is largely classified with the table-occupied space, and the empty space without educational equipments and the corner for a special object. Through this survey, the present stage of our open education can be identified with the open-classroom type among the three types suggested in this paper: team teaching, open classroom and open corridor type. |
