A Study on the Validity of Early-to-Late Sound Energy Ratio as a Predictor of the Spatial Speech Transmission Quality |
Abstract |
In the present paper, physical parameters using impulse response are examined as a tool for assessing the speech transmission quality of a room. The physical parameter, early-to-late sound energy ratio, is verified in terms of articulation score according to the proposed standdard of articulation testing method using Korean speech materials. It is found that the energy ratio of 50msec boundary is most highly related the articulation score which is able to reflect the subjective hearing perception of listeners in a room. |
