Reduction of Emitted Noise from Plumbing Equipment by Variation of Plumbing System in Apartment Houses |
Abstract |
The pressure of supplying water has much influence on the noise from sanitary spparatuses in apartment building as they become high-rised. Noise from drainage piping system is on the increase by substituting light-weighted pipe mateaial for drainage pipe.This study is to investigate the characteristics and quantify the noise reduction effect by variation of plumbing system, and present the basic data useful in establishing the noise reduction strategy of plumbing equipment. Field measurement and experiment of emitted noise from sanitary apparatuses and drainage pipe were carried out in recently constructed 3 high-rised apartment buildings.As the result of this study, the characteristics of emitted noise from each sanitary apparatuses were obtained. Noise reduction of sanitary apparatuses with supplying water was quantified by variation of the pressure of supplying water. Drainage pipe model with 8 guide vanes can reduce noise levels in 1.4~2.0dB(A), and can be considered to be substituted for wrapped pipe with glass wool. Special vent pipe is more efficient than yoke vent pipe system for reducing the drainage noise from water closet in the above execpt directly upper story. |
