Study on Buckling-Characteristics of Rigidly Jointed Single-Layer Latticed Domes with Triangular Network |
Abstract |
Single-layer latticed domes have various buckling characteristics, such as the overall buckling is similar to continuous shell, the member buckling is similar to compression member, and nodal buckling or dimple buckling of domes. In this paper, the buckling characteristics of rigidly jointed single-layer latticed domes with triangular network is estimated considering the slenderness ratio for a typical member and the shell-likeness factors.Analysis is undertaken by using two independent methods, namely : one, shell analogy method, and the other, the frame analysis method. The latter is based on the finite element method dealing with geometrically nonlinear problems. Two types of loading conditions are investigated, that is prssure-type and snow-type uniform loadings. Both loadings are assumed to act at the nodal points of network as concentrated loads. |
