Title |
The Evaluation of the Serviceability of High Rise Building |
Abstract |
Modern buildings that satisfy current design guidelines for maximum static lateral drift may still vibrate excessively during windstorms. Even though such dynamic motion is not enough to cause any structural damage, it may disturb the building occupants who expect the building to remain stationary under service load. In this paper, results of surveys conducted for the occupants in two domestic tall buildings, which are steel-framed office buildings, are given in detail. The items considered in this paper are the followings:the evaluation of serviceability of high rise building, the value of the return period of storms which the people object to the motion, and human physical and psychological responses to motion and their differences with respect to body postures, and sex, respectively. |
