The goal of the experimental study is to grasp the conditions of a comfortable atmosphere by applying the spatial effects of colors in interior design. The independent variables were colours of walls, floors and furnitures in living rooms. The visual feeling in the 1/10 living room scale models is judged using a semantic scale of the fifteen adjectives. The major findings are as follows;1) As a result of factor analysis, three dimension, "variety", "stability", and "warmness" are extrated, Dimension 1, "variety" is most greatly affected by the hue, the difference in hue of walls. floors and furnitures; dimensions 2, "stability". by the chroma and the difference in hue of independent variables; dimensions 3, "warmness', by mainly the hue.2) Concerning the spatial effects of color, the subjects felt more comfortable with relevance to the hue of GY, Y, high value and middle and low chroma in wall and the hue of B, high value and low chroma in sofas, Generally, in the color combination that walls, floors and furnitures are big different in hue and furnitures little were felt better than any other combinations.3) The analysis of this experiment showed the spatial effected to be greatly affected by sofas color in independent variables. |
