A Study on the Patterns and characteristics of the Space Layout in University Campuses |
| Abstract |
This study selects 69 of 97 university campuses in Korea, examines and analyzes the facility layout and road structure according to their formative periods, and the results are as follows.Of campuses formed beford 1980s, there were many simple Central Road-Types and Central Playground-Types based on the main building in the campuses of private universites, while there were mostly functional Central Road-Types and Ring Road-Types based on the library in those of national universities. However, most campuses of private universities have formed the fuctional space centering around the library and students' hall and the campuses of national universities showed that the formation of concentrative and powerful core space in their central area and the space structure which focuses on the communication with cluster-types faclilties suitable to each major and college in their circumference have been remarkable. |
