Title |
Nineteenth Century Architecture and Naturalphilosophy of German Idealism |
Abstract |
One of the most problematic situations of architecture or artistic fields in general in nineteenth century was contradiction of dichotomy. Two extremes of revivalistic and new architecture failed to be combined into a unified style. Nature was a third model for the reconciliation of the two extremes. Semper introduced the naturalphilosophic and naturalscientific observations of the reconciliatory lessons from Nature, and developed his theory of the 'style development' as one of the alternative solutions for the contradictory situations of dichotomy in nineteenth century. |
