Abstract Tests for the determination of the mechanical properties of welded wire fabrics including tensile and shear strength test for welded joints were carried out. Major test parameters include tensile strength, yield strength, area reduction, elongation after fracture and so forth.Test results indicate that1)Good quality was obtained for the average mecanical properties of Korean w.w.f. The quality of products, however, depends on the factory and diameter of w.w.f. Since the standard deviation of products is very high2)W.W.F. showed relatively high shear strength. The tensile strength of welded site, however, may be reduced due to brittle failure, if shear strength of w.w.f. is too high. As a result the shear strength of w.w.f. must be controlled under 25kg/mm2 as specified by KS D.
