A Study on the Preferences and Responses to Visual attributes of Highrise Apartments |
Abstract |
The preferences and responses to visual attributes were educed by inquiring through a medium of slides on scenes, which are made on the basis of users' and architects' cognitive image types. As a result of this study, the followings are suggested:Firstly, for 'the collective-figures of housing area', the layouts of U-shape, O-shape, and clustering, the varience in spacing between buildings, steep roofs, and noticeable skyline differences in terms of background are preferred. Secondly, for 'the contour-figures of buildings', 'the variations in the silhouette of building', 'the shape of roof(roof pitch, ranging from flat to steep)', and 'the shapes of building plan(120 folded, L-,Z-shape)' are preferred. Thirdly, for 'the exterior-facades of dwelling unit', the novelty in balcony shape such as round-shape or ellipse-shape, in materials, textures, and colors, and transformations by post-occupancy renovation are important to preferences. |
