Abstract Recently the construction of apartment complexes in Korea has become on a large scale with higher floors. The shear wall and slab are much employed because the composite action of these materials could efficiently support the lateral and vertical loading of the building.Therefore, to design a slab, the pattern of stress by the composite support and power of mutual action from the coupling of shear wall and slab must be determined exactly. So far, the design of slab has been mostly done by any personal experience because of its difficulty in the the analysis. From this review, the purpose of this study employs the finite element method to locate the slab with the higher stress, and to make it possible to exactly analyze slab according to wall movement.
