A preliminary study on unit and site plans of steel manufactured houses |
| Abstract |
Container houses are widely utilized due to various advantages such as convenient installation, easy maintenance, and inexpensive cost. They can be easily manufactured and stocked in a large quantity for emergency use. Currently container houses are crudely designed and manufactured and their performance is poor as well. When adequately designed and manufactured, they can be widely applied to many purposes.This study aims at analyzing the potential demand of container houses(steel manufactured houses) and proposing appropriate unit and site plans of them. Steel manufactured houses can be applied such fields as relocation projects, large-scale land development projects, leisure housing projects at vacation areas, equipment-integrated housing cores, and low-income and low-cost houses. They can be used for disaster housing since they are easily stocked and conveniently transported.This study provides unit and site plans of the steel manufactured housing for most purposes and presents transportation and installation methods. This study suggests that the current architectural codes be modified to legitimate container house installation and appropriate regulations be established to broaden application of the steel manufactured houses. |
