Title |
The Spatial Structure of Crime in Apartment Sites |
Abstract |
This study intends to figure out the spatial structure of crime using the theory of Space Syntax with special reference to the data of crime rate and fear of crime collected in six apartment sites in Seoul area. The resultsshow that crime can be understood more precisely through the double layers of global and local spatial properties, which reflect the outdoor spatial configurations of each site and operate independently from each other. It is consequently recommended for apartment sites to constitute less intelligible global structure to reduce the fear of crime and more connected and controlled local structure to possibly reduce crime rate. |
